Because we might be a little preoccupied when their bundle arrives and because I wanted to focus on a fun aspect of pregnancy, I've put together a wee newborn essential kit. Hopefully, all of the items will come in handy in the first few weeks.
Here's what I included:
plain white vests in 0-3 month and 3-6 month sizes (because you can never have enough vests)
cotton muslin cloths (ditto for these, I used them for everything from burp rags to crib sheets)
Lansinoh lanolin ointment which was my best friend for the early days of breastfeeding.
Handcream and lip balm because I've never been so dried out as those first few weeks of motherhood (I found a handcream with antibac which would have been great when I was still neurotic about germs and is still good even though I let my two year old eat a raisin off the patio today).
a floating bath thermometer to get that scary first bath just right!
and a lovely Gro Swaddle because my biggest sleep regret with Sam was not swaddling him from the start.
I also made them a card with my favourite washi tape, any excuse to get my washi on!
We handed it over today and the bump comparison, good company and glorious sunshine are what inspired me to finally get back to my blog.
What else would you have included in a early days survival kit?
