Remember around this time last year when I wrote this? Well, now that the dust has settled from the celebrations, let me tell you about Laidback Leo turning one.
We are getting accustomed to this parenting gig, so we accepted that little children's birthday parties are something that we remember and they see photos of. With that in mind we decided a low key family party was the best way to celebrate and since I had a birthday going on too, I decided it would be a barbecue.
There is an unwritten rule that my birthday is sunny. But Scotland didn't get the memo this year so Euan manned the griddle in the kitchen rather than standing over hot charcoal with a large umbrella.
We had aunties and uncles of the regular, great and honorary variety. And grannies and grandads and cousins and friends. There was much cake, laughter and love.
And more presents than we knew what to do with! Just as well that everyone else stepped up because we were stumped on what to get our second born, he's so content with playing with what toys we already have, reading the books Sam has collected and when all else fails, sorting out my peg basket while I hang the washing out!
